Factual Fiction- Protecting the Baby

Visitors have come in to bless your newborn. You are happy yet apprehensive.
They coo at the baby and try to touch and tickle the chin. The bashful child who has come pinches the cheeks a little too roughly for your taste.
You wince inwardly and try to distract the child and prevent him from jumping on the bed with the dirty shoes.
You quickly take the baby in your arms for fear of the ladies doing the same.
They may not have washed their hands and you fear that the baby may get dirty.
You even contemplate waking the baby up accidentally and excuse yourself and take the baby for a solitary feed.
The pesky relative who has come to stay with you on the pretext of seeing the new baby takes the baby from your arms and hands her over to the fattest lady among the visitors.

You smile contentedly, inwardly seething.

Hi ,

No fiction here , everything you say is fact . Right from dirty shoes visitor to fat aunty visiting . I tried the solitary breastfeeding routine but it failed miserably as the aunty walked in to advise proper posture and propping of baby ! And she also advised me not to hold the baby too much and pick him up

I really wonder how much percentage of this is fiction. For me its as in real! Hehehe :)

oh so true- but i was very clear- i would politely tell kids to wash their hands and then touch....
and hope the adults would follow the cue

but that was a different matter

Everyone has to hold the baby without even washing hands, push in a dirty little note into the baby's hands and squeal at how the baby's holding onto the money - while you inwardly die thinking of all the germs it is bringing, have to deliver a sloppy kiss on the baby's face ... what would we do without these well meaning visitors!

Am yet to be a mom...Leave that! AM yet to get married! Shucks on and off i have been reminding my dad! Phew!

But Am optimistic! One day I will also get married! I will also give birth to babies ( yes i will have a min of 2)! I will be ware of all those mean(ingless) visitors!

BTW: Aren't marriage and giving birth to babies 2 different things? Why should we correlate these two?

hey!! just read parts of your blog... nice going.... you asked me about shoes that I picked up for Joy...hmnn well we have a fabulous selection here in Delhi... at Lifestyle ..but my personal favourite shopping place for kids is Greater Kailash market 1...there are lots of very cool shops... and the prices are decent too... ranging between 200-400... so not bad. however , except for the red pair everything.. is from abroad... either Mothercare, NEXT and MEXX . He even wears some baby GAP... i have thankfully never had to but any.. except for the red pair... and the one I gave away... the rest are all presents..yes... he is a lucky guy.

I always refrain from touching newborns but my MIL would always insist and ask whether I was scared?!Also I ensure that i do not stay in the same room for more than 5 minutes...The mom and the kid need rest and space....There is always time another day for small and big talks....
