Given that she loved to nurse when she was sleepy, cranky, bored, hungry...I was under the impression that it would be tough to get her off and so I took the easy way out-postponed it. I had figured I would probably leave her with my mom for a couple of days and that would do the trick. For various reasons that wasn't feasible. So I had to own up the responsibilty. I wanted to stop mainly because she refused to take regular milk since she knew she had a backup. Anyways, one fine day I stopped feeding her in the day and and told her 'dudhu khatam', she understands the word. She fussed a little for 2 days but then forgot about it. I gave her milk in a glass before naps. Then over a week I weaned her completely. It wasn't as difficult as I thought it would be. Obviously I underestimated her.
It was easier, i think, because putting her to bed wasn't difficult to begin with. Generally I lie down next to her and pat her for a few minutes and she's out.
Sorry, this is almost a mini post.Crumbling Cookiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07225812906025561493noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-32496989.post-68606537415437344192007-05-22T09:58:00.000+05:302007-05-22T09:58:00.000+05:30:) Oh I am working at the same problem currently. ...:) Oh I am working at the same problem currently. But as you said, nursing seems lot easier than patting, singing, thumping her to sleep.Sunitahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07347370529459467244noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-32496989.post-87535721512867514962007-05-22T04:51:00.000+05:302007-05-22T04:51:00.000+05:30hmmm...can't be of much help in this matterhmmm...can't be of much help in this matterBy Deepa and Supriyahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07747804542943614606noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-32496989.post-10149327588179551272007-05-22T02:48:00.000+05:302007-05-22T02:48:00.000+05:30Tejas likes to feed when he is sleepy or feeling w...Tejas likes to feed when he is sleepy or feeling whiny or cranky

ditto with K. and also when he's hungry. so I either direct him to other food sources or offer plain water. usually works. the crankiness almost always has some other cause behind it - boredom, frustration etc..so I try to handle that before giving in.
And yes, this is so much easier, esp during sickness! SM said it right - weaning begins w/ the mother!Anushahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03887052887207435095noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-32496989.post-2983010799693074072007-05-21T21:26:00.000+05:302007-05-21T21:26:00.000+05:30thats the best title for a post ..
